The Villa

El Cortijo is an imposing yet glorious villa, heavily influenced by the stunning architecture of Spanish Renaissance palaces. It ranks amongst the most attractive modern buildings seen scattered across this particular section of Andalucian countryside.

A scenic hillside road en route from San Pedro de Alcantara to Ronda, leads to a private driveway belonging to El Cortijo and its neighbouring residences. Once through the main gate to the villa there are a number of parking spaces available for guests. The house is entered through a beautiful terracotta tiled patio with a centerpiece water feature. Some striking features are immediately on show; the building's tall bell tower, an outdoor dining area and the kitchen's large arched windows overlooking the courtyard.

The living areas are not only large and luxurious, but plentiful too. A dining room and lounge occupy the bright, spacious ground floor. They share a large oak terrace with outdoor seating and dining areas, and stunning views of hills, valleys, pine forests and the Med. There is a mezzanine gallery overlooking the Grand Salon on the lower-ground floor, and which features a stunning 7-meter (23 feet) high timber decorated ceiling, comfortable large sofas and a beautiful antique fireplace. A small library is situated at one end of the Salon offering a varied selection of books and DVDs, as well as a computer with broadband access.

There are seven exquisite bedrooms located around the property. The house's principal bedrooms, the Master Suite and Bedroom Two, are located on the lower-ground floor. There are two bedrooms found at the very bottom of the house, both of which face onto the garden and which can be accessed from it. Another bedroom is located on the ground floor and is reached via a small hallway, whereas the remaining two bedrooms are located in the tower building. Six of the bedrooms have their own en suite bath/shower rooms.

El Cortijo's garden is both stunning and sizeable. Buried within the valleys the grounds are comprised of charming private terraces, outside dining areas, sundrenched bathing spots, shaded sanctuaries, a secluded badminton court and of course the 11-metre private swimming pool at the foot of the garden.

El Cortijo's high-taste blend of modern luxuries and authentic local culture is exemplified by the many intricate and characteristic features found throughout. Guests will enjoy the most lavish of modern comforts, be it the high-end fittings and appliances in the bathrooms and kitchen, or the exquisitely maintained pool and gardens. By contrast the architecture focuses heavily on stone arches and columns, and there's a vast and priceless collection of original paintings and antiques collected by the owner over the years...
